Witcher 3 Remastered mods now work on consoles as well as PC. The remaster adds Cross Platform Mod Support, an in-game mod browser powered by mod.io, so players on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 can browse and install player-made mods without leaving the game. Modders also get an improved REDkit. Cross-platform mods are one of the extras in the Witcher 3 Remastered patch notes.

How to install Witcher 3 Remastered mods

  1. Open the main menu and choose Mods.
  2. Log in with your CD PROJEKT RED account. Create one first if you do not have it.
  3. Connect the account to mod.io when the game asks.
  4. Browse the mods and install the ones you want from the same menu.

The in-game browser lists the mods uploaded to mod.io, and the same menu works on every platform.

Check these before you install a mod

  • Update date. The remaster changed the skill system, the interface and the renderer, so a mod made for the previous version may not have been updated yet. Look for a note on the mod page that it supports the remaster.
  • Skill and balance mods. The new Witcher 3 Remastered skill tree has three ranks per skill and new prerequisites, so mods that rebalanced the old skills are the most likely to clash.
  • Graphics mods on PC. The remaster already uses textures and models based on The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, so an older texture pack may now duplicate that work. Compare first; the best PC settings cover the built-in graphics options.
  • Appearance mods. Before you install one, see whether Reforge transmog already gives you the look you want without a mod.
  • Save backups. Copy your saves before you try a mod that changes gameplay; the save guide shows where they live on PC.

REDkit for mod makers

REDkit, the official modding toolkit for The Witcher 3, got engine and interface improvements in the remaster. CD Projekt Red says they make it easier for modders to create, manage and customize content.
