How to download the Witcher 3 Remastered free upgrade

  1. Open the store you bought The Witcher 3 on, on a PC or console that can run the remaster.
  2. Find The Witcher 3 in your library. On PC the remastered version replaces the old one as an update.
  3. On PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, look for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered on the store page and take the free version.
  4. If you own a disc for PS4 or Xbox One, keep it in the console: the upgrade checks it.
  5. Launch the game and load your save. Your saves, achievements and trophies carry over, but your skill points are reset, so open the new skill tree before your first fight.

Does the upgrade include Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine?

Yes. Screen Rant and Game Rant both report that the remaster download comes with Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, and the official announcement confirms that the remaster includes them. Every change in the Witcher 3 Remastered patch notes applies to both expansions too.

Witcher 3 Remastered on PS4 and Xbox One

The remaster does not come to last-generation consoles. Your PS4 or Xbox One copy still counts as ownership, so you can claim the free upgrade once you move to a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 and PS5 Pro guide covers the graphics modes you get there.
